Period 1 Warming up, listening and speaking

Talk about inventions. Practise describing inventions.

Ⅴ Teaching Procedures:
Step 1: Lead – in
Show the pictures of the four ancient inventions to the students? Ask: What do we need if we want to invent something? ( imagination and creation )
Step 2 : Warming up
Describe some objects to the students and ask them to guess what it is. At the same time, get the students to pay attention to the ways of describing an object.
. ?This invention is made of metal. ?It is powered by an engine.
?It looks like a bird. ?It makes it possible for people to fly to different places in the world. . This is an invention which can help people in the streets, especially in the big cities.
Sometimes, it looks like a tree standing beside the street. It directs cars trucks at crossing. It has colored lights; red means stop; green means go.
Step 3 : Listenting
Listen and fill in the blanks to explain why the inventions are not given the patents.
