Teaching aims: Knowledge and skills: The students enable to make their own New Year’s resolutions. The students can catch “ going to” in conversations. Process and methods: Group work Pair work. Value and emotions: To know about western people’s New Year’s resolutions. The students can have active and healthy life goals. = 2 \* ROMAN \* MERGEFORMAT II. Teaching importance and difficulty: How to get the specific information by listening. = 3 \* ROMAN \* MERGEFORMAT III. Teaching steps: Step 1. Lead- in: T: Today is November 16th. A new year is coming. We all know “ A year’s plan starts with spring.” What are you going to do next year? The plans you make for yourself on New Year’s Day are called New Year’s resolutions. First of all, please guess my New Year’s resolutions. Step 2. Show our resolutions.( Pre- listening activity) T: Well done. I’m going to spend more time with my family. And I want to be healthier by playing more sports and eating more healthily. Certainly improving myself and friendship is very important to me. Step 3. While- Listening. T: Look at the picture. What are they doing? Ss: They’re talking. T: Right, they’re talking about their New Year’s resolution. Now let’s listen to the tape. You’ ll hear Lucy, Kim and Mike talking about their New Year’s resolutions. Circle the resolutions you hear from the list of things in activity 1a. Task 1: To finish 1c. T: But how are they going to make their resolutions work? Let’s listen and fill in the chart. Task 2: To finish 1d. Task 3: To retell the listening by the help of 1d. Step 4.
