Cultural context plays various roles in social life, being beyond the range of language factors. In translation, one should not merely do a word-by-word and sentence-by-sentence job. Instead he should try to understand what he is dealing with by referring to its macroscopic cultural circumstances in order to express the information of the source-language exactly. This paper has a discussion on cultural context and the influence of cultural context on translation, so that we can get much deeper understanding to the relationship between cultural context and translation.
