Abstract The core competence is the force of progress and development. It refers to the existing and developing ability of the enterprise at the market competition. The idea of core competence was introduced by Prahalad, C.K. in the year 1990. The core competence of modern enterprise is based on innovation, and it is a combination of key resources and capabilities, which enable the enterprises maintain the potential competitive advantage. Foreign trade enterprise is a product of the development of economy, and at it has become an integral part in Chinas socialist economy. Economic globalization has made a great contribution to Chinas economic development. As the leading exponents of economic globalization, foreign trade enterprises should improve their core competence to survive and develop in the fierce competition from the international market facing the fierce competition from the international market side. This paper is on the basis of relevant theories of core competences and the concrete conditions of the foreign trade enterprise. It discusses the significance of improving the core competence, analyzes the present situation and problems of the core competence of the foreign trade enterprise, and summarizes the developing state of the foreign trade enterprise. Through the study of the foundation elements of the core competence, the author proposes some suggestions about how to improve the core competence of the foreign trade enterprises. Keywords: core competence; foreign trade enterprise; competitive advantage; element 摘 要 核心竞争力是企业进步和发展的动力,核心竞争力是指企业在市场竞争中所拥有的独特的获取利润、谋求生存、持续发展的能力。核心竞争力的概念是由普拉哈拉德和哈默尔在1990年的《哈佛商业评论》一篇论文中提出的。现代企业的核心竞争力是以创新为基础,是关键资源及关键能力的组合,是使企业能够保持潜在竞争优势的动态平衡系统。外贸企业是我国经济发展的产物,随着经济的繁荣,外贸企业已经成为我国社会主义经济中不可或缺的组成部分。经济全球化使中国的经济得到了空前的发展,作为经济全球化带头兵的外贸企业要在国际市场激烈竞争的环境下得以生存和发展,必须要提高核心竞争力。将核心竞争力的理念运用到我国外贸企业中,推进和完善企业建立长效机制,对于保证企业长期可持续发展具有深刻的现实意义。本文通过阐述外贸企业核心竞争力的内涵,提高企业核心竞争力的重要性,以及我国外贸企业的核心竞争力的现状及存在的问题。结合我国外贸企业的相关情况,分析我国外贸企业在国际竞争中的优劣态势,从
