: Re 60 ** 100029 * 60 :TQ028.8 STUDY ON THE SHELL-SIDE MASS TRANSFER PERFORMANCE OF HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE MODULES LI Lijun, LIU Liying and DING Zhongwei (College of Chemical Engineering , Beijing University of Chemical Technology , Beijing 100029 ,China) Abstract The shell-side mass transfer performances of hollow fiber membrane modules with different packing densities were investigated both in theoretical calculation and experimental study. Based on the experimental results, the mass transfer correlation was obtained. It was found that with the same Reynolds number, the mass transfer coefficient increased with increasing the packing density until 60% and decreased again at higher packing density. Better agreement was reached comparing the mass transfer coefficients obtained through theoretical calculation and experimental study indicating that the calculation method could be used to predict the shell-side mass transfer performance of hollow fiber membrane modules.
