The chemical composition, toxicity characteristic of leaching pro- cedure (TCLP) and dioxins of aluminum dross and ash were analyzed to make sure the toxicity levels are within the legal limits. Then, we investigated the effects of aluminum dross and ash to carboxyl m ethyl cellulose (CMC) solution r atio on th e properties of the refractory materials to optimize the production technique. The best sintering temperature 7 wt% i s 1200 or h igh er an d th e am ount of CM C solution added should be 7 wt % minimum . Test 1200 results showed that the refractory products when 1200 manufactured using 8% (V/W) CMC solution and sintered at 1200has 3.5 g/cm3 true density, 1.8 g/ 3.5 g/cm3 1.8 g/cm3 14% 50% cm3 bulk density, 14 % open porosity, 50% porosity, 391 kgf/cm2 68 39 1 kgf/ cm2 compressive strength , 68 kgf/cm2 kgf/cm2 bending strength and 76.6 % Al2O3 concentration. 76.6 wt% The manufactured refractory material is proved to be environmentally friendly.
