In addition, I also want to express my gratitude to the authors whose books are listed in the bibliography. Abstract The Joy Luck Club has become well-known since it was published. Meanwhile, the author Amy Tan is celebrated for her book and her thoughts. Amy Tan is a Chinese-American writer. Due to her special life experience, she can construct a complicated literature world for readers. The Joy Luck Club is a novel about culture shock between China and America, including family education and marriage. It is about four mothers and four daughters, for instance, mothers miserable experience when they were young including their unhappy marriage and their unbearable life, and how they get rid of these sad memories and get back the confidence of life. However, daughters were born in America, they get American education and hold American thoughts. So they are different from their mothers who were locked by traditional thoughts of China. In the book, there are many episodes about conflicts between mother and daughter. Daughters pursue personality and freedom, they are not willing to obey their mother. But
