LW5602 Law of Contract/ LW6564E Law of Contract Case Reading List Weeks 1 to 4 This course follows the cases which are extracted(萃取) in your casebook: R. Brownsword, Smith Thomas: A Casebook on Contract, Sweet Maxwell, 12th ed, 2009. In the table below, the cases in bold will be discussed in class. You are expected to read all cases listed. The numbers refer to the relevant pages of Smith and Thomas (12th ed) where the case is in extract form. Also in the table below, the case underlined is the challenge case. When we discuss the challenge case in the lecture you are expected to have an answer for the question: “What is the ratio for this case?” i.e. what reason did the judge give for deciding the case one way or the other? You case reading for weeks 5-8 will be released on online on Blackboard on Week 3. Your tutorial questions for these weeks will also be released online in week 3. Your coursework assignment (20% of total marks) will be in the form of a problem question. It will be announced and discussed in the lecture in week 2 and placed online shortly afterwards. Details of your class participation mark (20% of total marks) will be given in your Week 2 tutorial and also put online shortly afterwards. Six of the twelve weekly topics covered in the course will be on the exam (worth 60% of total marks). You will be required to answer 3 questions on that exam and the exam will be 3 hours long. Students will not be given, and should not expect to be given, hints on the content of the exam.
