OVERVIEW: DriveComm is used for communicating with any serial communications capable PDL Electronics AC motor controller (drive) via a P.C. DriveComm can be used to control and monitor PDL Drives and also allows the transfer of parameter files and parameter values to and from a P.C. CONNECTING TO DRIVE The PDL AC Drive is connected to the PC via an RS232/RS485 serial communications link, via Modbus/TCP or via Bardac DriveWeb protocols. Following is a circuit diagram showing connections between 9 and 25 pin D type plugs and the Elite Series communications terminals. Refer to the product specific Technical Manual (4201-xxx) for the communications terminal arrangement. Page 4 of 16 General Application Note - Using PDL DriveComm 4216059A Once the Drive has been connected to the PC and powered up, run DriveComm (DC3.exe) on the PC. DriveComm will start-up showing an empty parameters screen. To Connect to the drive select Connect from the Window menu or by clicking the connections window icon in the toolbar. This will open the Connections Window. Select connection type being used and select correct port, baudrate, drive address and parity then click OK to connect to drive. If DriveComm fails to find a supporting Electronic Data Sheet (EDS) for the software installed on the drive you are trying to connect to, a No EDS For Drive dialog box will appear, you can then download and install the
