HyperMesh / SYSWELD InterfaceUser’s Guide Introduction As an integral part of SYSWELD distribution, there is provided the Geometry/Meshing module – sophisticated tool for creation of model geometry and FE mesh pre-processing. Nevertheless, to further enrich possibilities for creation of FE mesh and for import of different geometry and FE mesh data formats, there was developed the HyperMesh/SYSWELD interface. This interface allows to export models from HyperMesh into SYSWELD data file in ASCII format. To give a clear demonstration of usage of the interface, a guided example is provided in the final part of this document. Installation of the Interface Installation of the Template File The interface is provided in form of a template file. To install the interface, it is necessary to place the template file into suitable subdirectory of the HyperMesh (Altair HyperWorks) installation directory. On the next slide, there is described the installation procedure corresponding to HyperWorks version 6.0; for other versions of the HyperWorks software, the presented directory path may be slightly different. Installation Procedure The SYSWELD template file DATA_ASC_SET04 is stored on the SYSWELD Training and Toolbox CD, in directory 1_Continuation\Miscelleanous\ Hypermesh_Template In HyperMesh installation directory enter subdirectory Altair\hw6.0\templates\feoutput, where various template files are stored. Create a special subdirectory for the SYSWELD template, for example subdirectory SYSTUS. Copy the SYSWELD template file into this subdirectory. Description of Capabilities of the Interface General Functionality The interface was developed in order to enable usage of HyperMesh as FE mesh pre-processor for SYSWELD. The interface allows to create SYSWELD data file in ASCII format, which contains FE mesh (nodes and elements) and definition of Groups. The interface does not allow to export other pre-processing data defined in HyperMesh (like material properties, constraints, loa
