This unit focuses on how to write longer sentences by expanding the nouns in the sentences. Functions: e.g. 1. the cat 2. the cat in the tree 3. the fat and lazy cat Classroom activities: P58 narrow down/make it specific add more detailed descriptions What can be used as attributes? 1.Determiners Determiners refer to words that are used to define the referential meaning of a noun or a nominal phrase. 限定词是在名词词组中对名词中心词起特指、类指以及表示确定数量和非确定数量等限定作用的词类。包括： Articles: a, an, the Possessive prons物主代词：my, your, ones Genitive nouns 名词属格：Johns Demonstrative prons指示代词：this, those, such Indefinite prons不定代词：some, any, each, either, all, both... Nouns: the feature of the noun (before) 4. -ing forms: the function, feature, state (before after) 5. -ed forms: (before after) Note: Sometimes, if there is only an adverb modifying the -ed form, we may also put it before the noun. For example: well-tailored suits 6. Infinitives:refer to a future action (after) 7.
