A Discussion of Hierarchical College Oral English Teaching
大学生英语口语分层教学探讨
1. Introduction
How to progress the oral English teaching and learning has become a hot debate in recent years. With the development of globalization, the oral English shows its importance in politics, economy and daily life. Therefore, many people have realized its significant role in our work and life; and they try their utmost to improve it.
Against for the oral English’s teaching and study, many academicians have been researched on it and many articles have analyzed the problems in the oral English teaching and learning. They say that since there are individual differences, including different personality characteristics and different learning ability of students’ learning, we need to develop the hierarchical teaching. They also conclude that the Chinese students have made great progress in English spoken, but they are still in a lower class due to many non-mental factors, such as emotional factors, learning attitude and teaching methods. Based on these situations, we need to connect our oral English with hierarchical teaching and find some useful strategies to improve the oral English teaching and learning. Hierarchical teaching will be helpful to the students’ oral English learning and the teachers’ teaching and classroom management.
2. Hierarchical Teaching
2.1 Definition of hierarchical teaching
Hierarchical teaching is a type of teaching method which is dividing students into different classes or groups based on their English level. According to students’ level of knowledge, learning ability, learning speed and ability to accept new things, students should be divided into different levels so that they can master more knowledge. This teaching method obeys the learning and teaching laws. It can ensure that each group of students has a good learning environment and an active class.
