How to Deal with Rhetoric in English Translation 修辞在英语翻译中的处理 论文摘要 本文简要地介绍了修辞的定义和几种常见的修辞手法，同时介绍了翻译的定义，翻译的标准和翻译的一些技巧。 我们都知道，修辞是人们在交流中的一种情感表达的方式，是语言运用中必不可少的手法。常见的修辞手法有：明喻、暗喻、提喻、拟人、夸大和缩小、反语等。翻译是不同语言、文化间交流的一种重要途径。严复曾提出“信，达，雅” 的翻译标准，即要求做到忠实原文，语言通顺。为此，在翻译中我们常常使用以下技巧：重译法，增译法，减译法，词类转移法，正说反译、反说正译法等。 在翻译各种修辞手法时，应根据不同的情况，即不同的修辞手法来选择适应的翻译方法。这样我们才能做到翻译的准确和通顺。本文就如何运用各种翻译技巧来处理英语中的修辞手法进行了分析和说明。 关键词：修辞手法 翻译技巧 Abstract This paper introduces the definition of the rhetoric and some common rhetorical devices, and introduces the definition of the translation, the standard of translation and the skills of translation. As we know, rhetoric is the style of expressing emotion during communication, and the indispensable method of language applying. There are some common rhetorical devices, such as simile, metaphor, metonymy, personification, overstatement and understatement, irony and so on. Translation is an important way of the communication of different languages and cultures. Yanfu pointed the standard of translation as “信，达，雅”, which means that the target text should be smooth and faithful to the original one. So, we usually use the skills such as repetition, amplification, omission, conversion, negation and so on. We should choose the different skills of translation to translate the different rhetorical devices. So we can get the smooth and accurate target text.
