EGAP Thesis Analysis on the joint between steel structure and concrete structure in bridge St Name: Tian Roger St ID: 123456789 Tutor: Xing * June 20, **** Hainu University Abstract With the developing of concrete in structure, the defect on its density and intensity makes itself be impacted in many applications, the expansion of steels use is just based on a point that to support the same size of load, the amounts of concrete are heavier several times than steel. Just for this, steel was applied widely in the structures that designed to support very large load, such as the bridge. So the joint between steel structure and concrete structure must be studied deeply in the multiple application of them. During the analysis on the advantages, disadvantages and potential problems of the different joint styles in the main bridges of China, the results showed that there are three kinds of joints exist in these bridges, they are Embedded Bolt connection, Embedded Weldment connection and Embedded Hinged-pin connection. Key words: bridge; cable; joint; wind; concrete 1. Introduction Steels outstanding qualities in the strength of bending, shearing and extruding that make it focused for hundreds years, especially in bridge. In bridge, steel structure always be used with concrete structure. But as the application of steel is becoming more and more extensive, the problems on the joints between concrete structure and steel structure were also becoming more and more complex, the analytical calculation theory and method about the steel and concrete joints of the bridge are still weak up to now. An anonymous did a detailed research based on the impact that cables of the bridge suffered from wind and published on Engineering Business in 2008. His result shows that the joints in large-size bridge were mostly destroyed by wind, not load. The following paper is just written on the background project of Haikou Century Bridge, which was completed at 2003, it is a cable-stayed
