Introduction The cermet cladding part is a new type of composite part by fabricating the cermet clad on the steel substrate. The interface crack fracture belongs to a complex fracture of I and II models. Up to now, the main fracture theories about complex crack propagation are the maximum circumference tension stress fracture criterion, the maximum energy release rate (MERR) theory and the minimum strain energy density theory. Among them, the MERR theory has wide adaptability. But it is mainly suitable for the complex crack in the homogenous material, they are not reasonable to the interface crack in the inhomogeneous material. In the paper, the propagation criterion suitable for the interface crack in the cermet cladding part is proposed, which is used to make the theoretical and example researches on the crack parallel to and lying on the interface in the cladding part. 2.
