Rules of Leaves
Objectives and Scope to be Covered by the Rules
These rules are designed to maintain the production capability of the employees to its optimum level by providing time to relax and rest; convalesce from physical illness or disorder; recuperate from emotional trauma; rally from calamities; recover from family loss; pursue endeavors that would benefit their well-being and in return benefits the company.
These rules shall be applied to the full-time, part-time or other categories of employees who have made the employment contracts with GreatEnglish Corporation or Real GreatEnglish Corporation, unless otherwise specified in the Rules. For the international staff, different rules may apply which are specified separately in such, but not limited, Rules of Employment for International Staff.
Situations not covered by these rules shall be governed by the Labor Law and other pertinent Company’s rules.
Service Incentive Leave (SIL)
Service Incentive Leave (herein after referred to as SIL), as provided in Art. 95 of the Labor Code, is a yearly leave benefit of five (5) days with pay, enjoyed by an employee who has rendered at least one year of service.
The term?at least one year of service?means service within twelve (12) months, whether continuous or broken reckoned from the date the employee started working, including authorized absences and paid regular holidays unless the working days as a matter of practice or policy, or that provided in the employment contract is less than twelve (12) months, in which case said period shall be considered as one year.
The five (5) day SIL as mandated by the law shall be commutable to its money equivalent if not used at the end of the year.
SILs can be used as vacation leaves or sick leaves or indefinite leaves.
