ACCA Charity Fun Day 慈 善 同 樂 日 14 December 2008 Chater Road, Central 2008年12月14日 中環遮打道行人專用區 An Overview of the Event Date : 14 December 2008 (Sunday) Time : 10:30 – 16:30 Place : Chater Road Sunday Pedestrian Precinct, Central The Organiser ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), founded originally in 1904, is the largest and fastest-growing international professional accountancy body. At present it has 325,000 students and 122,000 members in 170 countries worldwide. There are a total of 20,000 members and 32,000 students in Hong Kong and China. Since 1997, the ACCA Charitable Foundation Limited set up under ACCA Hong Kong has organised 11 successful charity events, which aim at contributing to our community through helping the needy. Programme Highlights The 12th ACCA Charity Fun Day to be held on 14 December 2008 will be a day of fun for people of all ages. Highlights of the event will include exciting traditional rickshaw races. There will also be fabulous street performances and a wonderful Fun Land featuring interesting game booths, delicious snacks, air-pumped game, battery cars and many more fascinating activities. The Theme According to the Report of The Commission of Poverty released in June 2007, “poverty is ranked among the top concerns by the public and has presented some major concerns to the society”. Major challenges include rising income poverty and disparity, reducing demand for low-skilled employment, intergenerational poverty and rising aging population. This is especially so with the currently high level of consumer product prices. Whilst the government has introduced measures to tackle the issue, we strongly believe that ACCA Hong Kong and its members have a role to play.
