Reading A Master of Nonverbal Humour

Teaching Aims:
1.Learn and master the useful words and phrases.
2.Let the student learn from nonverbal humor.
3Train the students’ predicting, skimming and summarizing ability during reading the text.
4.Encourage the students to keep optimistic attitude to life, develop sense of humor and cultivate their taste.
Teaching important points:
1.Enable the students to understand the text better.
2.Improve the students’ skimming ,scanning and summarizing ability.
Teaching difficult points:
The understanding of the text.
Teaching methods:
1.Communicative method.
2. Careful reading to summarize the main ideas of each paragraph.
3.Individual, pair or group work to make every student work in class.

Teaching procedures:
Step1 Revision and lead-in(3mins)
1.Show a picture of Yuan Longping and ask students the question “Do you think he is a successful man? Why?”
2.Show a picture of Charlie Chaplin and ask students questions.
1)Do you know this man? Can you say something about him?
2)Do you want to know more about him ?
设计意图:通过图片形象生动地引出本文要介绍的主人公,通过提问激发学生对卓别林更多了解的欲望,预测新课内容,为阅读做好准备,引起学生对问题的探究,调动他们阅读的积极性。
