In this lesson, the students will master the key words: tiger, elephant, koala, panda, lion, giraffe, cute, beautiful, scary, lazy Then they will express preferences about animals and describe animals using the target language: Why do/don’t you like? Why does/doesn’t he/she like? Because they’re. Where arefrom? They’re from. Last the students will realize that animals are our friends. To Love animals is to love ourselves.

Read the book and put the Chinese into English orally, then write them down without looking at your book.

Lead in
Ask Ss to look at the picture on page 25 and discuss the following questions in groups. Then let some students say their answers out.
1. What are the two students talking about?
2. How many animals are there in the picture? What are they?
3. What’s the girl’s favorite animal? Why?
4. Can you guess what is the boy’s favorite animal? Why?
5. What’s your favorite animal? Why?
T: Look at the pictures in 1a and match the words with the pictures. (after a while)Who can tell me the answers?
