Obradovica 8, 21000 Novi Sad SERBIA and MONTENEGRO salvai@polj.ns.ac.yu Abstract The use of new technologies, such as GIS applications, can provide faster exchange of information about flow, pollution, navigation, etc., and more efficient dealing with the problems of public water management companies (PWMC) in the country and neighboring countries, as well. The GIS applications for hydrological and hydraulic analyses, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, will contribute to the development of infrastructural objects of water resources engineering in Vojvodina. The research results should contribute to: - achieving optimal technical solutions - managing water supply systems in the best way - choosing appropriate land use (for ecological food production, for sludge deposits, etc.) - making easier selection of interested users or buyers and allotting space and mineral resources for utilization (water, soil, clay, sand, gravel, etc.) - enabling more efficient taxation concerning the use of the resources and space - establishing regulations concerning conditions of utilization of a given space and conditions of its protection, etc. Final results can be used in all PWMCs in Vojvodina and other regions and countries.
