Boiling water A daughter complained to her father about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know How to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. Her father, a cook, took her to the kitchen. He filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to be boil. In the first pot he put in carrots, in the second one he put in eggs, and at the last he put in some coffee beans. After that, just let them sit and boil, without saying a word.? The daughter was wondering what he was doing. Twenty minutes later he turned off the burners. Then he dished the carrots and eggs out and placed them in different bowls. He also poured the coffee out and placed it in a mug. Turning to his daughter, he asked, Darling, what do you see?“ Carrots, eggs, and coffee. she replied.? He brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots, she did and noted that they were soft .He then asked her to take an egg and break it. After shelling, she observed the hard-boiled egg. Finally, he asked her to sip the coffee. She smiled and tasted its rich aroma.? What does it mean, Father? she humbly asked.? “Each of them had faced the same adversity——boiling water, but they reacted differently. The fresh carrot was strong, hard, and unrelenting. But after boiling in the water, it became soft and weak. The egg was fragile before boiling. Its thin shell protected its liquid interior, but its inside became hard after boiling in the water.
