Abstract A t present, enviro nmental and societal co ncer ns is promoting development of new bio degradable po-
ly mers and fo am plastics f rom r enew able resources.Plant o il is o ne of the most important class of renew able sources,
and can be used as substitutes of petroleum to prepare some polymers and foam plastics.T he development and new re-
sear ch pro gr ess of foam plastics ba sed on plant oil are r eview ed, the main methods to prepare different fo am plastics
fro m plant oil are intro duced, and the properties of fo am plastics are discussed.Application and dev elopment pro spects
of plant oil derived fo am plastics are pro spected.
