ARTIS collaboration 2016 in research training Advancing Research in Translation Interpreting Studies Narrative Theory in Translation Studies: a research symposium Centre for Translation and Intercultural Studies, School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China 25-27 March 2016 CALL FOR PAPERS Narrative theory, long no more confined to the domain of literature and poetics, enjoys considerable attention from a diversity of disciplines across the humanities and social science spectrums, with several interdisciplinary centres for the study of narrative thriving in European and North American Universities. Arguably first introduced to Translation and Interpreting Studies by Baker’s Translation and Conflict (Routledge 2006), social narrative theory continues to attract scholars in the field as a flexi ble and robust theoretical tool for academic inquiry into translation, translations and translators. This three-day teaching symposium aims to bring together, for the first time, doctoral students, postdoctoral and early career researchers from the region who are exploring new theoretical frameworks and are particularly interested in the use of social narrative theory as a tool for conducting research in the field of translation, interpreting and intercultural studies.Through lectures, workshops, critical discussions and the peer-review of presented papers by participants, the symposium will provide an unprecedented opportunity for emerging T/I scholars to intellectually and critically
