Formative Evaluation in English Teaching
English teaching English teaching evaluation mechanism that hinders the reform of the bottleneck, evaluate what and how to evaluate a direct impact on what to teach and how to teach problem. ‘Full-time Compulsory General High School English curriculum standards (trial version)’, (hereinafter referred to as ‘English curriculum standards’) clearly states: English Course curriculum standards should be based on the evaluation of the objectives and requirements, implementation of teaching the whole process and results of the effective monitoring. This article on how to do some exploring formative assessment in English, hoping to interact with peers.
First, the evaluation of previous evaluation of English language teaching
Evaluation is an important part of English teaching and scientific evaluation system is to achieve curriculum goals of the strong guarantee. Evaluation of English courses should be based on ‘English curriculum standards’ requirements, the implementation of English teaching in the whole process and results of effective monitoring. English language teaching evaluations from the previous term, more remain in the summative assessment of the level, namely, the results of students have to make judgments ─ ─ usually mid-term, final examination results as the basis, while students in the learning process learning in the emotional experience, attitudes, values, and so insufficient attention. This is only for ‘point’ rather than on the ‘line’ on the evaluation system, and can not properly reflect how students learn and can not understand what they are learning the insights, confusion, experience and so on. Moreover, the evaluation of the main body of teachers, students can only passively accept the evaluation of teachers, lack of reflection on their own learning process, once the examination results are not satisfactory, they tend to lose self-confidence and interest in learning to learn.
