Across the USA, thousands of young people are graduating from college at this time of year. But there are older graduates too: some much older, like 70-year-old Jerry Reid, who just 1 from the University of Virginia. He earned a bachelor’s degree.
Mr. Reid might not look like the 2 college student, his hair is 3 grayer. But still Jerry Reid’s 4 is easy to forget, other UVA students know him as one of their own. Mr. Reid even sat in with the “Hoo Crew,” a group that cheers 5 for the school at sports events.
About a half century ago, in his 20s, Mr. Reid was not in 6 . Instead, he was racing cars and having fun. But he says his friend Bill 7 him to some UVA parties.
