REPORT ABOUT CLOUDSCAP Zhang Jiaoyan 张娇艳 Reporting about this talk This talk has three parts which are cloud-the next economy, cloud-in practice, cloud-in China. Mr. Mok tells us cloud not only has a lot chances, but also has a lot challenges in China trough these three parts. In the first part, I learn about cloud transformations, evolution, gathering shape, infrastructure and advantage. Cloud transformation is mainly relying on broadband revolution, software revolution and big data revolution to realize. Dialup modem grows from 14.4k to 28.8k, to 56k, which makes dialup’s speed quickly. And ADSL extends from 512k, 2M to 4M, which provide up to 3.5Mbps upstream speeds and 24Mbps downstream speeds. Also FTTH is greater than 1G.. Dialup, ADSL and FTTH belong to broadband revolution. Software revolution includes network, CPU/server, storage and apps. Big data revolution processes application/content driving data growth. From 2000 to now, cloud goes through infancy stage, maturity stage and prosperity. Now cloud is widely used in industry giants, newcomers and new media. The traditional network application’s mode usually is that user issued the address request about a web page content through the browser, the request is passed through the internet, the DNS server parse the URL , the request is sent to a specific application server after parsing, application server will handle the data back returned to the user via the internet. Cloud is that all the resources is in the abstract, and provided by the form of services, user goes ahead the service access via the internet. Cloud makes speed faster, fee cheaper, internet more convenient, server better control and internet environment green. In the second part, I learn about the practice of cloud. This part is mainly about hardware of cloud. The main hardware of cloud is datacenters. Mr. Mok gives examples of datacenters in China, USA, HK and Mongolia. All these examples make clear that datacenter needs
