Train the students’ ability to understand the main idea and grasp important details of the listening texts. 2. Give the students a chance to exchange views on the texts they have heard to enable them to have a deeper understanding of the texts. Section A: The Battle against AIDS Let the students acquainted with some new words: Acquire, infect, rural, constitute, implement, emerge, creative, client, recently, literature, solve, illustrate, relate, establish, define, emphasize, regardless, pass out, crisis, represent, threaten. Teach the writing skill: a paragraph of a general statement supported by a problem-solution pattern. Section B: The Last Dive at the Olympics 1. Teach the reading skill: reading for major details.
