They are in charge of substrate specificity in the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway and therefore play a pivotal role in many physiological activities such as cell-cycle progression, transcriptional regulation, programmed cell death and cell signal transduction. In addition, F-box proteins participate in many other biochemical processes through different ways. In this review we focus on the structure and function of F-box proteins and reveal that this protein family has an important role in life. Furthermore, we indicate that F-box proteins are attractive candi- dates in the disease therapy and drug interaction. Key words: F-box protein; fun
