By tak ing No. 18 w e lded turnout on a smi p ly supported beam bridge as an exam p le, factors influenc ing its long itudina l force and disp lacem ent w ere ana lyzed. T hese factors are the tem perature of rail, the temperature o f bridge, the leng th of beam, the layout of support, the stiffness of pier, the structure o f frog heel, and the resistance o f fastening and ba llast. C alcu la tiona l resu lts show that the influence range of w elded turnout on a smi p ly supported beam bridge w as w ith in tw o spans. T he arrangem ent of w elded turnout on smi p ly supported beam bridges shou ld m ake the expansion d isplacem ent direct ions o f the turnout lead rail and the beam be opposite. The long itudinal st iffness of piers under w elded turnout shou ld be increased, and spacer block shou ld no t be adopted as the frog hee l of w e lded turnout on a smi ply suppo rted beam bridge.
