Indeed, this very important park in Wuhan has been open to the public for almost 50 years and has gone through several development plans over the years. Recent attempts to rehabilitate the park were more or less successful. We believe that these rehabilitation plans were not entirely successful because they did not cover all the steps needed in order to attain a viable solution. I truly believe that the next step in the process of rehabilitation will require a major change in direction and a significant financial investment to give this historic park a second life. To achieve this, you will need to base the planning on clear statements, on strong site analysis, and on a clear plan of action. This will require a methodical approach and professionals with excellent design skills in order to bring together all the solutions and actions under one single approach. Such a plan should take into consideration the following items: Detailed analysis of the existing conditions regarding the buildings, the vegetation, the water network, the path and access roads, the urban conditions (surrounding streets and existing buildings at the perimeter of the park).
