Study on the Prediction Methods of Urban Building Land Demand: Based on the
Model of Engel Coefficient and Per Capita Urban Building Land Area

Abstract: To solve the problem in the actual prediction methods on urban building land, an
exploratory research is carried out on a model of Engel coefficient and per capita urban building
land area in a creative way. This model covers the shortage of the ration of per capita urban
building land area. There is a negative correlation between Engel coefficient and per capita urban
building land area through theory analysis. This paper sets up a prediction model on this
foundation, and carries out a prediction analysis to Chengdu city.This model provides a scientific
basis for the general land use planning.
