Abstract: The thermal battery based on Li ( )/FeS electrochemical system used for weapon system at present

has advantages of stable voltage andhigh capacity. However, its further application is limited due to the disad-
vantages, such as low conductivity and badthermal stability, especially at high overload and open-circuit shelv-
ing. Theexperimental results show that CoS2 with high conductivity, good chemicalstability andhigh decompo-
sition temperature is expected to be the new cathode material to substitute FeS . Compared with the thermal

battery using FeS as cathode material, thethermal battery using CoS has similar capacity, low
