T ianjin Quarantine Station of Animals, Tianjin 300211, China) Abstract: Cystine in hydrolyzed feather meal for feedstuffs was investigated by the reaction of oxidationhydrolysis w ith per fomic acid. Cystine was released from helical structure of protein, w hich was cross linked by disulfide bond of cystine. Cystine w as determined by the technique of liquid ion exchange in this experiment , the content of cystine was 2. 87% to 3.01% . Cys tine can influence the hydrolyzed degree of protein in hydrolyzed feather meal for feedstuffs. Moreover, Cystine w as influenced by the number of disulfide bond and the contents of free sulfurcontaining amino acids.
