* The CUB’s (containerized UltraBatteries) will be used to smooth the energy from the grid. Current methods of changing energy production based on demand are very slow. The UltraBattery is able to respond to changes in demand almost instantaneously. This creates a smoother, cleaner and more efficient type of energy. Again it is beneficial to run a a partial state of charge. At any time the grid may require to have more or less energy. This battery can handle the job. * This reinforces the statement earlier about the Battery Management System. It does not need to be as complex as other chemistries due to the safety of lead acid batteries. Unlike Lithium Ion, where cells can explode if any one cells voltage is exceeded beyond a limit, the UltraBattery will correct itself. A venting system is placed in each battery to allow gasses to escape if necessary. * The lead-acid recycling infrastructure has been in place for many years. The materials used in a lead acid battery are relatively easy to recycle. Material separation occurs based on density differences and melting points. * Here is an example of the wide temperature range being tested with the hybrid demonstration vehicle.
