Abstract:Numericalandexperimentalevaluationmethodsincludingstaticcapabilityanalysis,time
domainsimulationandmodeltestshouldbeusedtodesign。analyzeandpredicttheperformanceofa
dynamicpositioningsystem (DPS)beforecommissioningit.TovalidatetheperformanceoftheDPS
inanaccurateandeconomicway.anew softwareprogram whichisabletoconductan e‘xperiment’
toevaluateanewlydesigneddynamicpositioningsystem and itssubsystem wasdeveloped in the
Matlab\Simulinkenvironment.And,thereliabilityofthenewlydevelopedDynamicPositioningTime
DomainSimulationProgram. DPTDSPwasevaluatedbyasimplifiedmodeltestonasemi-sub—
mersible.Theresultsshow thattheprogram couldbeusedasamarineresearchtooltoinvestigatethe
performanceofthenewlydesignedDPSornewmodulesofthesystem.
