CSCEC National Swimmin Center Desi n Consortium, Beijin 100029, China) Abstract : Welded hollow spherical joints connected with square hollow sections are adopted in the National Swimmin Center Water Cube , which are subjected to combined axial forces and bendin moments. The loadcarryin capacity and practical calculation method of welded spherical joints connected with square steel tubes under axial forces and uniaxial bendin moments have been investi ated in Ref. [ 1] . Further studies are carried out in this paper on the joints subjected to combined axial forces and biaxial bendin moments. For joints subjected to combined axial forces and equal biaxial bendin moments, three approaches includin finite element analysis, experimental study and simplified theoretical solution are employed to investi ate their structural behavior, leadin to the practical calculation method for the loadcarryin capacity. For joints subjected to arbitrary biaxial bendin moments, a simplified method is proposed for the bearin capacity which is based on a linear i
