I think a thrifty person is someone who uses only what they need and avoids waste. Being thrifty can save us money, but more importantly, it is necessary if we want to save our planet. If we fail to control the amount of waste we produce, our society and our planet are doomed and this concern must overweigh any short-term satisfaction we get from buying and consuming more. I also try to cycle or walk everywhere I go, or at least use public transport rather than getting a taxi or depending on a private car.
