Powder Sintering of Porous Ti Compact from TiH Powder

and Pore Forming Agent NH HCO

Abstract: Porous Ti compact was fabricated from the mixed powder of TiH and pore forming agent NH HCO using a powder

sintering method. The research results indicate that the addition of NH HCO powder has little effect on the phase compositions of the

sintered porous Ti compact. Porosity, mean pore size, compressive strength and elastic modulus in compression of the sintered porous
Ti compacts decrease abruptly with more of NH4HCO3 added. The unique porous structure and appropriate mechanical property
adjusted by adding different amounts of pore forming agent for the sintered porous Ti compact meet the basic requirements of porous
implant material. It indicates that the sintered porous Ti compact is a promising biomedical porous implant candidate.
