Anhui Ancient Garden Municipal Con struction Co. , Ltd. , Hefei 230036, China) Abstract: The Huizhou vernacular dwellings possess obvious regional characteristics. Based on practi cal surveys about the Huizhou vernacular dwellings in Ming and Qing dynasties and analysis of rele vant documents, a study and summary are given on the structural members and their connection of the column and tie construction in the Huizhou vernacular dwellings. It is shown that the column and tie construction in the Huizhou vernacular dwellings uses local materials, employs materials in accordance with its natural capacity. It emphasizes the structural integrity and stability, improves the joint rigidi ty and possesses good applicability and durability.
