ABSTRACT More and more tunnels have been constructed or being under construction in our country, in order to ensure the safety of the tunnels, the advanced techniq ue of the infrared scanning must be used to detect the conditions of the tunnels. Now, the load vehicles used for tunnel detection are all manufactured by foreign countries. There is no research and production of such vehicle in China. The research object of this article is the load vehicle, manufactured by the author’s institute, exclusively used for the tunnel detection. The research has established the detailed finite element model of the load vehicle body structure. Aiming at several typical operation s ituations usually occurs while the load vehicle working, the author analyzed and calculated ,with the NASTRAN software, the locations where the maximum stress focuses on the load vehicle body structure and the maximum shifting deflection of the load vehicle, as the load vehicle running with the uniform velocity passes over the road surface obstacles, leading to four kinds of results: one wheel hanging in the air or raising a little instantly, taking sharp turning or emergency breaking, so that we can confirm whether the strength and the stiffness of the load vehicle body structure could satisfy the design and operational requirement ofour customers. On this basis, the inherent frequency and relevant vibration model of the body structure have been obtained by computational analysis of the first ten free models of the load vehicle body structure. The research of this article shows that, the strength and stiffness of the load vehicle body structure could meet the design and operational requirement of the customers.
