Theoretically ，the Grain to Green Program could help to transfer rural population to cities ，as a result of which the social development is also promoted at the same time . Therefore ，empirical analysis on the relationship between the Grain to Green Program and urbanization in four provinces of Sichuan ，Shanxi ，Gansu and Yunnan were carried out in this paper. Results showed that there is no distinct pertinence between Grain to Green Program and urbanization in western China. At last ， the paper analyzed the reasons and countermeasures about the remaining problems.
