Write Coherently 1. Personal pronouns: A suitable personal pronoun in the place of a noun holds sentences together. And it can prevent too much repetition of a noun. However, a pronoun should never be used in a way that it can refer to more than two nouns at the same time, or to none, thus causing confusion of the reader. See: Jane told her mom that she needed a dress. (Does she refer to Jane or her mom?) Write Coherently 2. Synonyms: Synonyms are words or phrases that have the same or similar meanings, which can prevent frequent repetition of a word or phrase. Write Coherently 2. Synonyms: Compare the two Paragraphs: 1) Her father died. She knew he would die, but she could not believe he would have died so soon. She felt sad because before he died, she was not able to come back. And now her father had died, who could make her happy? 2)Her father died. She knew he would pass away, but she could not believe he would have gone so soon. She felt sad because before his death, she was not able to come back. And now her father had deceased, who could make her happy? Write Coherently 3. Transitional expressions: The use of transitional expressions is another means to write coherently. With them in the writing, it is easy for readers to understand the relationship between ideas or sentences. The transitional expressions can take one of the three forms: a word, an idiom, a sentence. Write Coherently: A Small Tip You can also achieve coherence by repeating the above-mentioned idea in a different way. Example: First idea: Cyber chat is time-wasting.
