465/1108 The University of Hong Kong Faculty of Engineering Master of Science in Computer Science Applications are invited for admission in September 2009 to a programme leading to the part-time or full-time degree of Master of Science in Computer Science. Information about the Programme Mode and Duration of Study For the part-time mode of study, the curriculum shall normally take two academic years of study; the maximum period of study is three years. For the full-time mode of study, the curriculum shall normally take one academic year of study; the maximum period of study is two years. There are two patterns of study: (a) Taught courses only: A candidate shall select twelve modules. (b) Taught courses plus project: A candidate shall select eight modules and a project report or dissertation, which has a weighting equivalent to four modules, on a subject within an approved field of study . Regulations and Syllabuses Soft copy of the application form, regulations and syllabuses of the MSc(CompSc) programme are available from the programme website at http://www.cs.hku.hk/msc/ or http://www.hku.hk/rss/pp2009 in early January 2009. Advanced Standing At the time of application for admission, candidates may submit request for advanced standing on the basis of studies successfully completed within or outside this University. Advanced standing of up to three modules may be granted. Programme Fees The composition fee for each module in MSc(CompSc) is $6,900 for the academic year 2009-2010, subject to official approval. The composition fee for the project, which is equivalent to two or four modules of study, shall be payable in two or four instalments respectively, with each instalment paid in each semester. Students who can complete the project before the project fee has been paid in full should settle the balance of project fee upon completion of the project. Students are required to pay the composition fee for modules they enrol by semester. Some of the modules
