mfc9(国外英语资料) MFC tutorial MFC processes and threads Win32 process and thread concepts A process is an executable program consisting of a private virtual address space, code, data, and other operating system resources (such as processes, files created, pipes, synchronization objects, and so on). An application can have one or more processes, and a process can have one or more threads, one of which is the primary thread. Threads are the basic entities for operating system time-sharing scheduling and allocating CPU time. A thread can execute any program part of the code, even if this part of the code is another thread concurrent execution; all threads of a process share the virtual address space, its global variables and operating system resources. The reason for threading is that it is more efficient to schedule objects with threads rather than processes: Since the new process must be loaded with code, the code to be executed by the thread has been mapped to the address space of the process, so the creation and execution of the thread is faster than the process. All threads of a process share the address space and global variables of the process, so communication between threads is simplified.
