Content-Based Instruction In year 2000, The Chinese Ministry of Education put forwad the idea of “cultivating English talents of compound abilities”. After the hated discussion, it suggests that there is necessary of “language plus subject matter”. Content-Based Instruction(CBI) Defination: Teaching is organized around the content or information that students will acquire, without explicit effort to teach the language itself. Key points: focusing on content rather than language-based unit; language as by-product. a example here Backgroud Information(abroad) CBI is originated from Canand in 1960s. It become popular in many countries in different academic field in 1970s. In 1989 Brinton devided CBI into three different models, they are Sheltered model, adjunct model and theme-based model. In 1999, Met put forward the requirments on teachers in CBI teaching. Dr. Adamson put forward that CBI could reduce student’s anxiety in class. (广东科技 2011,9.
