No single one has won widespread acceptance in the world up to now. Here according to the nature of occurrence, news falls into two basic categories: hard news and soft news. Hard news Soft news Hard news（硬新闻） is also called spot news and straight news（纯新闻）, hard news includes stories of a timely nature about events or conflicts that just happened or are about to happen, such as crimes, fires , meetings ,protest rallies（抗议集会）, speeches and testimony in court cases. Hard news is more earnest with objective reality report of certain freshness. Soft news （软新闻）is not considered immediately important and timely to an audience. Soft news is the social news with deep human touch and ease writing among which the subject may be out of date. （3）Structure of news A news story consists of headline, lead and body. When we read a newspaper, headline is the most probable thing that comes first into sight. A headline has two requirements: to capture the essence of the event and to attract readers’ attention. A lead includes a summary of the most important material. It tells the readers what to expect. The remainder of the story, the body gives examples and explains the beginning.
