41 3 () Vol.41 No.3 2010 6 Journal of Central South University (Science and Technology) Jun. 2010 ( 410075) 38% U455 A 1672−7207(2010)03−1090−06 Rock failure pressure of shallow tunnel subjected to horizontal seismic and unsymmetrical loads YANG Xiao-li, HUANG Bo, WANG Zuo-wei (School of Civil and Architectural Engineering, Central South University, Changsha 410075, China) Abstract: The theoretical solutions of break angle and surrounding rock pressure of tunnel considering horizontal seismic force were derived for shallow buried tunnels using earthquake coefficient method. The analytical solutions were presented. The results show that the break angle of the shallow-buried side of the tunnel increases with the increase of the horizontal seismic force, while the break angle of the deep-buried side of the tunnel reduces with the increase of the horizontal seismic force. For example, the reducing rate of the break angle of the sixth grade rock is up to 38%. The crown rock pressure of tunnel reduces with the increase of the horizontal seismic force.
