Welcome to the unit(第1课时课堂)

【教学目标】
1.知识目标:掌握本课单词、词组和句型,并能灵活运用。
2. 学习中外著名的节日,初步了解这些节日的庆祝方式。
3. 能使用适当的语言谈论最喜欢的节日。
【教学过程】
Step1 Lead-in
Present some pictures and ask Ss to say some festivals they have learned before.
Step2 Presentation
1. Present some pictures on PPT and teach them the names of Chinese festivals.
2. Guide the Ss to talk about how people celebrate these festivals.
3. Present some pictures on PPT and teach them the names of western festivals.
Step3 Practice
1. Ask the Ss to complete Part A on P57, checking their answers.
2. Speak out the names of the six festivals.
3. Work in pairs: practice the conversation, and ask each other his/her favorite festival.
Step4 Presentation
1. Ask the Ss to listen to the dialogue on page 57 and answer the questions.
(1) What’s Tommy’s favourite festival? Why?
(2) What about Millie? What do people do to celebrate the day?
2. Work in pairs to make up a new dialogue.
Step5 Listening practice
Eddie and Hobo are celebrating Halloween.
Listen to the dialogue between Hobo and Eddie, answering two questions:
(1) What does Hobo dress up as at first?
(2) What does he dress up later?
Learn the new words and phrases in the dialogue.
Practice the dialogue in pairs, then act out the dialogue.
Step6 Study skills
Listening to the tape. Pay attention to the sounds of the letter groups.
2. Finish Part A on P65 and check the answers.
3. Encourage students to read them after the tape.
Step7 Homework
Finish off the exercises on the sheet.
