PURPOSE The purpose of this standard is to determine the resistance to abrasion of varnishes and other organic coating which have been applied to metallic or rigid non metallic substance. 2. SCOPE Abrasion resistance as determined by this standard shall be specified as a mesure of the effect of sand, falling from a defined height onto the inclined surface of the coating. 3. TEST PIECES AND NUMBER OF TEST PIECES 3.1. Sqare test pieces of 20mm side lengths shall be taken, smaller components shall be placed together and adhered to the test piece holder to make up the minium side length. 3.2. In the case of test on organic coatings, it is also permissable to use specially prepared sqare teat panels with at least 20mm side length. 3.2.1. Substrate : EDS-M-1101 3.2.2.
