Abstract ：Planning Domain Definition Language （PDDL ）is the standard language for problem description in automated plan- ning research ，and it is not only a modeling but also a communication language.As automated planning is well developed ， PDDL becomes more and more important.But there is no any review on the evolution of the versions ，features and semantics of PDDL.This paper gives a review on the evolution of PDDL.Finally ，the trends in the development of PDDL are summaried.
